Fred started out as a Amateur Boxing coach back in 1972 at the Hemsworth
Amateur Boxing club then run by Pete Cullen.
He moved on after a 6 year period at Hemsworth to form his own club the
Grimethorpe and Cudworth Boxing Club
Fred and his wife Barbara formed the club in 1978 and run the club as
Grimethorpe and Cudworth ABA until 1996, they then changed the name to
Grimethorpe and Cudworth Hard and Fast ABC.
The club is situated in Cudworth on the outskirts of Barnsley. Martin
joined the club in year 2000 and to date has obtained regional coach
status,
Ken who boxed for the club for several years, from 1978 through to the
early 1980’s has achieved the senior coach status.
To name but a few of Fred’s
achievements:
20 years of training the England School Boys, He has trained 17 National
Champions.
ABAE – Junior ABA – National Schools – Boys Club – Novice Champions.
He has travelled to many countries from the UK with “His Boys”
South Africa, Russia, Germany, France, Holland, Scotland, Ireland,
Wales, to name a few.
